<br />concerning the payment for parking spaces to Master Development.
<br />
<br /> Frank K. Thomson, Jr., 600 Broomhill Avenue, spoke
<br />funding for~the'School Board.
<br />
<br /> Larose M. Mann, 805 Jewell Avenue, representing Simonsdale
<br />Civic Club, spoke in opposition to a real estate tax increase.
<br />
<br /> L!oyd-Beaz~ley, 3186 Reese Drive, representing-Portsmouth
<br />Professional Fire Fighters~Local 539, expressed-concerns
<br />of the Fire Fighters about funding for their equipment.
<br />
<br /> Carol R. Carr, 396 Carver Circle, representing the
<br />Portsmouth PTA Council, spoke concerning the School Budget.

<br /> (a) Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr~ Hawks to' adopt the
<br />ordinance, on first reading subject to change on conditions of th
<br />Councils' findings on the second reading, was defeatedand by the
<br />following vote:

<br /> Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Corprew, that the
<br />appropriation 0rdinance for the.Operating Budget for the fiscal
<br />year beginning July 1, 1989, and ending June 30, 1990, be
<br />re-submitted and amended by the City Manager, on May 15, 1989, at
<br />an amount showing a $1.2 million dollars reduction in total
<br />appropriation, or a $440,000 dollar reduction in total
<br />appropriation and was adopted by unanimous vote.

<br />real estate tax at $1.27 or S1~30 and was adopted by unanimous
<br />vote.

<br /> Substitute motion of Mr. Hawks and seconded by Mr. Gray,
<br />to amend the following ordinance to reflect a ~eduction in the
<br />Pleasure ~Boats Tax to S0.50 for e~ery hundred doll~ars, and was
<br />adopted hy unanimous vote.
