Next Steps Following Council Action: . If the requested appropriation is approved, the Director of DBHS will ensure funds are properly disbursed and are used to fund up to $2,250 of the cost to obtain guardianship for each individual. Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING IN THE FY 2009-2010 BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES FUND THE SUM OF $2,250 ALLOCATED BY THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES TO THE PORTSMOUTH DEPARTMENT OF BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES TO FUND A PORTION OF THE GUARDIANSHIP COSTS FOR THREE INDIVIDUALS WITH DIAGNOSES OF INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 10 - 175 - Adoption of an ordinance appropriating $500 of Discharge Assistance Funds allocated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services to the Portsmouth Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services and appropriating said funds in the FY 2009-2010 Behavioral Healthcare Services Funds to provide services for persons found not guilty by reason of insanity who reside in the city. The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services provide funds on an annual basis to all Community Services Boards including BHS to serve persons found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) who have been discharged into the community from a state institution. Discussion: . The Discharge Assistance funds are utilized for the ongoing management of acquittees in the community to ensure compliance with treatment and court ordered activities. Financial Impact: . No local match funding is required. Recommended Action: . Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $500.00 Discharge Assistance funds from the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services to the Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services to provide services to persons found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity residing in the community.
