June.13, 1989 "AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF COMMERCE STREET AND A 10 FOOT ALLEY ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF'COMMERCE STREET." Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson; Webb Nays:None the c) On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Hawks following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE TO THE PORTSMOUTH PORT AND INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION. WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter-described real property-located on the east side of Chautauqua Avenue, which property is the longer required for public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; WI~EREAS, said property may be combined ~th~ ~j~cent propert owned by the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission for development purposes; ~WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems it to be in the best interest of the City for said property to be developed for port and related uses. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and hereby is, authorized to convey the hereinafter-described property to the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission, to-wit: Ail those certain lots, pieces or parcels of land, situate, lying and~being in the City of Portsmouth, Virglnla~ known, numbered and designated at Lots 51,.52, and 53 as shown on the plat of the Shea'Estate recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, in Map Book 5, Page 19. Said parcels containing a w_ total of 7,817.59 square feet. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City ManaGer be, and hereby is, authorized to sign.such deeds and other documents as may be necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution." Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb Nays: None 89-248 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion requesting City Council's approv.al of the list of upcoming Hotspots so that the Engineering Department can finalize design and solicit bids for the work. . "The 1989-93 Capital Improvement Program identifies $112,470 available for Miscellaneous Drainage Improvements (Hotspots) and an additional $36,000 is available from previous appropriations. All3of the projects previously listed have either been completed, handled by maintenance personnel, or are contained in the proposed list. Attached for~ your consideration of future funding by Council is a list compiled by staff of all sites that have been nominated for inclusion in the Hotspots program, including those that, because of cost or nature of the problem, fall outside the scope of the project. We are trying to limit projects recommended for this program to thoss within 'the $10,000-$20,000 range.
