June.13, 1989 <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING A PORTION OF COMMERCE STREET AND A <br />10 FOOT ALLEY ON THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDE OF'COMMERCE <br />STREET." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson; Webb <br />Nays:None <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />c) On motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. Hawks <br />following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY <br />LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF CHAUTAUQUA AVENUE TO THE <br />PORTSMOUTH PORT AND INDUSTRIAL COMMISSION. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City owns certain hereinafter-described real <br />property-located on the east side of Chautauqua Avenue, which <br />property is the longer required for public purposes and is, <br />hereby, declared to be excess property; <br /> <br /> WI~EREAS, said property may be combined ~th~ ~j~cent propert <br />owned by the Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission for <br />development purposes; <br /> <br /> ~WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems it to be <br />in the best interest of the City for said property to be developed <br />for port and related uses. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and hereby is, <br />authorized to convey the hereinafter-described property to the <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Ail those certain lots, pieces or parcels <br /> of land, situate, lying and~being in the City <br /> of Portsmouth, Virglnla~ known, numbered <br /> and designated at Lots 51,.52, and 53 as <br /> shown on the plat of the Shea'Estate recorded <br /> in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court <br /> of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia, in Map <br /> Book 5, Page 19. Said parcels containing a w_ <br /> total of 7,817.59 square feet. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City ManaGer be, and hereby <br /> is, authorized to sign.such deeds and other documents as may be <br /> necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution." <br /> <br /> Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br /> Nays: None <br /> <br /> 89-248 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion requesting City Council's approv.al of the list of <br />upcoming Hotspots so that the Engineering Department can finalize <br />design and solicit bids for the work. . <br /> <br /> "The 1989-93 Capital Improvement Program identifies $112,470 <br />available for Miscellaneous Drainage Improvements (Hotspots) and <br />an additional $36,000 is available from previous appropriations. <br /> <br /> All3of the projects previously listed have either been <br />completed, handled by maintenance personnel, or are contained in <br />the proposed list. Attached for~ your consideration of future <br />funding by Council is a list compiled by staff of all sites that <br />have been nominated for inclusion in the Hotspots program, <br />including those that, because of cost or nature of the problem, <br />fall outside the scope of the project. We are trying to limit <br />projects recommended for this program to thoss within 'the <br />$10,000-$20,000 range. <br /> <br /> <br />
