489 <br /> <br /> June 13, 1989 <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the council of the City of <br />Portsmouth that the Council does hereby endorse the application tc <br />be submitted, to the Department of Conservation a~nd Hi§toric <br />Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation for Land and Water <br />Conservation Funds for the continued development of City Park and <br />gives its assurances that the funds needed as the proportionate <br />share of the costs of .the approved project will be provided up to <br />one hundred twenty thousand.five:hundred thirty-five and 00/100 <br />($120,535.00) and that the general provisions of the Land and <br />Water Conservation Fund and Virginia Outdoors Fund Fiscal <br />Procedures as well as all other applicable state and federal <br />regulations governing such expenditures of funds will be complied <br />within the administration of this project. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the National Park Service, the <br />United States Department of Interior, and the Dep~rtment of <br />Conservation and Historic Resources, Division of Parks and <br />Recreation is respectfully requested to assist, in the prompt <br />approval and funding of this project in order to enhance the <br />standard of recreational enjoyment of all our citizenry." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 89-246 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a resolution authorizing the' City Manager to grant an easement <br />to Virginia Power for installation of Utility in Portcentre. <br /> <br /> "In order to provide additional utility service for <br />development parcels in ~th~ Portcentre area Virginia Power has <br />requested that the City grant an easement-on its pump station <br />property on the south side of Harrison Street. The City <br />Engineer concurs with this location of the utility easement and <br />the necessity to provide additional utilities for the su! <br />development parcels. <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of this resolution authorizing the <br />issuance of this easement." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mrs. Lucas and seconded by Mr. S~impson, the <br />following resolution was adopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER ~© GRANT AN <br /> EASEMENT TO VIRGINIA POWER FOR I-NSTkLLATION OF UTILITIES <br /> PORTCENTRE. <br /> <br />IN <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Virginia Power Company has requested that the City <br />grant an easement on its property on the south side of Harrison <br />Street in order to provide utility service for development parcels <br />in the Portcentre Commercial Complex; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />deems it to be in the best interest of~ the City to provide <br />additional utility service for future development of the <br />Portcentre area. <br /> <br /> <br />
