5i9 July 11, 1989 89-286 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to accept the award of $37,088 from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Historic Resources for the funding of a Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program and to transfer $37,088 from the grants Contingency Account. "I am pleased to inform you that the Virginia Department of Conserva%~on and Historic Resources has, approved our application for funding a Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program. The grant amount of $378,088 will fund the employment of fifteen (15) Students and two supervisors over th~ surm~er months (8 week program) to work on shoreline conservation projects. Specific erosion control and!water quality enhancement projects have been identified at City Park and Sleepy Hole Park. The Youth Conservation Corps Program provides a meaningful and educational work experience for the participants. The progra~ is 100% state funded and no local match is required. I recommend the acceptan~e~of this award and the transfer of $37,088 from the Grants~ Contingency Account."
