5i9 <br /> <br />July 11, 1989 <br /> <br /> 89-286 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a motion to accept the award of $37,088 from the Virginia <br />Department of Conservation and Historic Resources for the funding <br />of a Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program and to <br />transfer $37,088 from the grants Contingency Account. <br /> <br /> "I am pleased to inform you that the Virginia Department of <br />Conserva%~on and Historic Resources has, approved our application <br />for funding a Chesapeake Bay Youth Conservation Corps Program. <br />The grant amount of $378,088 will fund the employment of fifteen <br />(15) Students and two supervisors over th~ surm~er months (8 week <br />program) to work on shoreline conservation projects. Specific <br />erosion control and!water quality enhancement projects have been <br />identified at City Park and Sleepy Hole Park. <br /> <br /> The Youth Conservation Corps Program provides a meaningful <br />and educational work experience for the participants. The progra~ <br />is 100% state funded and no local match is required.
