July 11, 1989 <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1988, AS AMENDED, BY AMENDING SECTION 20-81 AND <br />BY ADDING ARTICLE XIV TO CHAPTER 35 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO <br />SHORT-TERM RENTAL LICENSE AND TAX." <br /> <br />Ayes: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, LuCas, Simpson, Webb <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> 89-219 - Ordinance closing Redwood Avenue, deferred from the <br />Regular Council Meeting of June 13, 1989. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Barnes and seconded by Mr. <br />item 89-219 until the rezoning for that area <br />and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Hawks, to table <br />has been completed, <br /> <br />- REPORTS FROM THE CITY MANAGER - <br /> <br /> 89-284 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption <br />of a resolution appointing viewers for the closing of Alphine <br />Street. <br /> <br /> "Super 8 Motel Developers, Inc. has made application to <br />vacate, close and discontinue Alpine Street. The Notice of <br />Application and Request for Appointment of Viewers has been <br />advertised. <br /> <br /> I recommend adoption of the resol.ution appointing viewers fo] <br />this application." <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION APPOINTING VIEWERS FOR THE CLOSING OF ALPINE <br />STREET. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Super 8 Motel Developers, Inc. has made application <br />to vacate, close and discontinue the hereinafter-described portiol <br />of Alpine Street, and it appearing that Notice of Application and <br />Request for Appointment of Viewers has been advertised as require~ <br />by law. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that Richard D. Ottavio, Simon P. Arrington <br />Robert McCurdy, James McGehee and Raymond Tweed be appointed '_ <br />viewers and that Clinton Fortune and Matthew Peanort, be appo~i~te, <br />viewers in the event one of the preceding viewers fails to <br />participate, said viewers to view the hereinafter-described stree' <br />and to report to this Council in writing whether in their opinion <br />any, and if any what, inconvenience would result in vacating and <br />closing the following: <br /> <br />Alpine Street <br /> <br /> All that certain piece or parcel of land <br />lying and being in the City of Portsmouth as <br />shown as "Wilson Street, 50 ft." on the plat <br />entitled "A Plat of valuable building lots <br />situated on High-Queen-London-Wilson-Chestnut <br />& Pearl Streets" recorded in Map Book 6, at <br />Page 32 in the City of Portsmouth, and as shown <br />on Map 24 in the Assessors's Office of the City <br />of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> <br />
