534 July _25, 1989 WHEREAS, said property is no longer required for public purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and WHEREAS, the property has been advertised for sale pursuant to the terms of Section 2.09 Of the Charter of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia; and WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. $2,400.00 for purchase of yard; and Clifford Gainey has submitted a bid of the property to be used as additional . WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City_to sell said property. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the bid of Mr. & Mrs. Clifford Gainey to purchase the hereinafter-described real property for the sum of $2,400.00 be, and the same hereby is, accepted. Said property being described as follows, to-wit: Ail that certain lot. of land, situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and designated as lot number one (1) in block sixteen (16) on the plat of the Prentis Park Corporation recorded in the Clerk's Office of Norfolk County in Map Book 7, page 93, and bounded and described as follows, to-wit: Beginning at the southwest intersection of Charleston Avenue and the right-of-way of the Atlantic and Danville Railroad, and from thence running south along the.eastern line of Charleston Avenue forty-five (45) feet, more or less, to the line of lot number two in said block} thence west along_the line of lot number two (2) one hundred (100) feet; thence north to said right-of-way tine;:and .thence east along said right-of-way line to the point of beginning. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to sign such contracts, deeds or other documents that may be necessary to carry out the intent of this resolution." . · . ~ Ayes: Nays: Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb None 89-301 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to authorize acceptance of an award from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Historic Resources which will fund the employment of 15 students and 2 supervisors to work on shoreline projects and the transfer of $37,088 from the Grants Contingency Account. Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes to remove this item from the agenda because.it was inadvertently included although it had been adopted at the meeting of regular meeting of July 11, 1989, and was adopted by unanimous vote. 89-302 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of a motion to authorize the City Manager to execute the amendment of the contract for New Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
