534 <br /> <br />July _25, 1989 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said property is no longer required for public <br />purposes and is, hereby, declared to be excess property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the property has been advertised for sale <br />pursuant to the terms of Section 2.09 Of the Charter of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. <br />$2,400.00 for purchase of <br />yard; and <br /> <br />Clifford Gainey has submitted a bid of <br />the property to be used as additional <br /> <br /> . WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best <br />interest of the City_to sell said property. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the bid of Mr. & Mrs. Clifford <br />Gainey to purchase the hereinafter-described real property for <br />the sum of $2,400.00 be, and the same hereby is, accepted. Said <br />property being described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Ail that certain lot. of land, situate <br />in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, and <br />designated as lot number one (1) in block <br />sixteen (16) on the plat of the Prentis <br />Park Corporation recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of Norfolk County in Map Book 7, <br />page 93, and bounded and described as <br />follows, to-wit: <br /> <br /> Beginning at the southwest intersection <br />of Charleston Avenue and the right-of-way <br />of the Atlantic and Danville Railroad, and <br />from thence running south along the.eastern <br />line of Charleston Avenue forty-five (45) <br />feet, more or less, to the line of lot number <br />two in said block} thence west along_the line <br />of lot number two (2) one hundred (100) feet; <br />thence north to said right-of-way tine;:and <br />.thence east along said right-of-way line to <br /> the point of beginning. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be, and he <br />hereby is, authorized to sign such contracts, deeds or other <br />documents that may be necessary to carry out the intent of this <br />resolution." . · . ~ <br /> <br />Ayes: <br />Nays: <br /> <br />Barnes, Corprew, Gray, Hawks, Lucas, Simpson, Webb <br />None <br /> <br />89-301 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />a motion to authorize acceptance of an award from the Virginia <br />Department of Conservation and Historic Resources which will <br />fund the employment of 15 students and 2 supervisors to work on <br />shoreline projects and the transfer of $37,088 from the Grants <br />Contingency Account. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Barnes to remove <br />this item from the agenda because.it was inadvertently included <br />although it had been adopted at the meeting of regular meeting <br />of July 11, 1989, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />89-302 Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of <br />a motion to authorize the City Manager to execute the amendment <br />of the contract for New Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. <br /> <br /> <br />
