566 September 11. 1989 A Public Hearing of the City Council held on Monday, September 11, 1989, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, E. G. Corprew, Jr., J~ Robert Gray, James C. Hawks, L. Louise Lucas, J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Stuart Katz, City Attorney *Absent: -Jack P. Barnes .... ''- 89-355 - Oath~of Office Administered to: Stuart Katz, City Attorney by Sheila Powell Pittman, City Clerk 89-356 - Public Hearing on rezoning, use permits and code amendments: (a) Z-89-6 WEST NORFOLK NEIGHBORHOOD - Sinclair Telecable, Inc., by - ~ ~ ~.~ ? Robert ~S~nclair, t~ rezone ~ c.~. ~:- propert~3at 39.18~:Adams Street. Residential R-t50 to Industrial M-2. Charles A. Bartlett, 3825 Adams Street, spoke in support of the zoning aplication. Robert E~ Babb; 521 Middle Street Mall, spoke in suiSport of the zoning application. Motion of Mr. Simpson to'approve Z-89-6 died due to a lack of a second. Motion of Mr. Hawks and seconded by-Mr. Gray,~that-Z-89-6 be deferred to the next Public Hearing Meeting of October 9, 1989, and was adopted by unanimous vote. (b) Z-89-13 WESTHAVEN NEIGHBORHOOD - Sidney H. Jones, for property at 3619-21 ~ Turnpike Road and 2315 Rodman Avenue from Commercial C-1 to CommerCial C-2. Mr. Hawks abStained because he represents Mr. Jones on legal matters. Hanna~oral~3109 Arlington~Place; representing Westhaven Park Civic League and Mable Shade~West~ro~e~Civic League, spoke in opposition of the rezoning application.. MOti6n of Mr.~Simspon ande:seconded by2~Mr. Gray to concur with the recOmmendation of the Planning Commission and staff that the front be. approved as C-1 and the back approved as C-2 on first reading and was adopted by unanimous vote. (c) Z-89-16 CHURCHLAND NEIGHBORHOOD - Towne Point Square Associates, by d. Gregory Dodd, for a strip of property lying east of Twin Pines Road and located between Gateway Drive and the Church'l~and North Apartments from Residential R-75 to Commecial C-2.
