565 <br /> <br />September 11, 1989 <br /> <br />1989 <br /> <br />At a called meeting of the City Council held on September 11 <br />, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Jack P. Barnes, J. Robert Gray, J. <br /> Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Stuart <br /> E. Katz, City Attorney <br /> <br />*Absent: E. G. COrprew, Jr., James C. Hawks, L~ LoUise Lucas <br /> <br /> 89-354 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the Council Conference. Room, 6th floor of-City Hall, <br />801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m,i, MondaY, September 11, 1989, fo] <br />the purpose of an Executive Session. <br /> <br /> By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Simspon, to go into <br />Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of <br />the Code of V~n~alto discuss: <br /> <br /> 1. Consultation.with legal counsel and briefings pertaining <br />to actual or probable'litigation as permitted by Subsection (A) <br />(7); and . · <br /> <br /> 2. Consideration of a personnel matter involving City <br /> CounciL~appointees as permitted under_subsection (a) (1); and <br /> <br /> 3. The investing of Public funds where competition or <br /> bargaining is involved, where if made public initially the <br /> financial interest of the governmental unit would be adversely <br />affected as permitted under subsection (A) (6); <br /> <br /> 4. Discussion of strategy with respect to the negotiation o~ <br />an'agreement or to consider the terms, conditions, and provisions <br />of same, as permitted Under Subsection (A) (13). <br /> <br />Motion adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> The me~ting rez~0nV~ned at'~6~45 p.m. <br /> Oh motion of Mr~ HaWks~-and~seconded by Mr. Simpson , <br />to'Section 2,1-344,1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately <br />preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open <br /> meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br /> Information Act~ and <br /> <br /> 2. .Only such public business matters as were identified <br />in the motion by which the Executive meeting was conv~f49d,~ ~ ~f <br /> <br /> -were.heard, discussed or considered ~n the meeting by the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br />On motion meeting adjOurned. <br /> <br />APPROVED <br /> <br />*Councilman Hawks arrived at 4:35 p.m. <br />Councilman Corprew, Jr., arrived at 4:36 p.m. <br />Councilwoman Lucas arrived at 5:02 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
