565 September 11, 1989 1989 At a called meeting of the City Council held on September 11 , there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Jack P. Barnes, J. Robert Gray, J. Herbert Simpson, George L. Hanbury, II, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney *Absent: E. G. COrprew, Jr., James C. Hawks, L~ LoUise Lucas 89-354 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a called meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Conference. Room, 6th floor of-City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 4:30 p.m,i, MondaY, September 11, 1989, fo] the purpose of an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." Motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Simspon, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of V~n~alto discuss: 1. Consultation.with legal counsel and briefings pertaining to actual or probable'litigation as permitted by Subsection (A) (7); and . · 2. Consideration of a personnel matter involving City CounciL~appointees as permitted under_subsection (a) (1); and 3. The investing of Public funds where competition or bargaining is involved, where if made public initially the financial interest of the governmental unit would be adversely affected as permitted under subsection (A) (6); 4. Discussion of strategy with respect to the negotiation o~ an'agreement or to consider the terms, conditions, and provisions of same, as permitted Under Subsection (A) (13). Motion adopted by unanimous vote. The me~ting rez~0nV~ned at'~6~45 p.m. Oh motion of Mr~ HaWks~-and~seconded by Mr. Simpson , to'Section 2,1-344,1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act~ and 2. .Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive meeting was conv~f49d,~ ~ ~f -were.heard, discussed or considered ~n the meeting by the City Council. On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjOurned. APPROVED *Councilman Hawks arrived at 4:35 p.m. Councilman Corprew, Jr., arrived at 4:36 p.m. Councilwoman Lucas arrived at 5:02 p.m.
