C~ MANAGER ~- . . <br /> <br /> 89-392 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoptio] <br />of an ordinanCe to appropriate $15,216.00 to provide~ the City's <br />5% share of constructing the Wyatt Drive extension from Wild <br />Duck Lane to Coast Guard Boulevard and approval to sign the <br />necessary.agreement. <br /> <br /> "With construction of the first phase of th.e-Western <br />Freeway, access to the West Norfolk neighborhood was reduced to <br />basicallya single point which crossed the'No~fOtk .and Western <br />Railroad serving Hoechst Celanese Chemical. Plant-~f~me-wly. -, <br />Virginia Chemical Plant). At the request of the West Norfolk <br />neighborhood a~d the City, VDOT agreed to extend ~ake~K~hgman <br />Service Road (now Wyatt Drive). Th~s route is to provid~ <br />access from Wild Duck Lane to Coast Guard Boulevard,, thu~ <br />providing., another means of egress from the neighborhood ~n the <br />event of an emergency. - ~ <br /> <br /> The project.has been recently bid by VDOT , resulting ~n a <br />total cost of %577,932.25. This is approximately $187,000 less <br />than their projection of $765,000 in the Six-Year Allocation <br />Plan. The City's share of this project will be 5% or $15,216. <br /> <br /> The City Attorney and the Director of Public Works <br />recommend ~appr~val of the required City/State agreement and <br />appropriation of. the necessary matching funds. Therefore, I <br />request your approval to sign the CiAy/State a~eement for this <br />project and appropriation of the $15,216 in matching funds." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Gray and seconded by Mr. Hawks, the <br />following ordinance was approved on first reading, and by <br />unanImous vote: <br /> <br />"AN~ ORD~ANANCE TO APPROPRIATE $15,216. FROM THE CAPITAL <br />IMPRO~MENT FUND TO PROVIDE THE CITY'S FIVE PER CENT SHARE <br />OF.EONSTRUCTING THE WYATT DRIVE EXTENSION FROM WILD DUCK <br />LANE TO COAST GUARD .BOULEVARD AND APPROVAL TO SIGN THE <br />NECESSARY AGREEMENT." <br /> <br /> 89-393 Letter from the City Manager recommending <br />adoption of an ordinance to appropriate S14,300.00 from the <br />Capital Improvement Fund for the installation of security gates <br />for the City Treasurer's office, and to award the contract to <br />the low bidder, Montgomery Door. <br /> <br /> "The 1988-89'Capital Improvement Plan identified funds for <br />the installation of security gates for the Ciby Treasurer's <br />Office. This project was designed to provide protection for <br />the records on file, data processing equipment and security for <br />cash receipt records. The Director o~ General Services has bid <br />the project and the following bids have been received:., <br /> <br /> Montgomery .Do~r ............ - .... % ..... $12,996.00 <br /> · Door Engineering ...~ ............. i... $15,777.00 <br /> <br /> The Director of General ServiCes has requested <br />appropriation of $14,300 (includes 10% contingency) and award <br />of the low bid to Montgomery Door. It is anticipated that the <br />work can be completed within 120 days of award. I concur and <br />recommend City Council's approval." <br /> <br /> <br />
