l.15 January 12. 2010 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, there were present: Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. Randall, Stephen E. Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, Douglas L. Smith, - City Manager Kenneth L. Chandler, Senior Deputy City Attorney George M Willson. 10 - 09 - The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 10 - 11 - Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Ms. Psimas, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia, to discuss appointments to City boards and commissions, as per subsection A.1. The subject matter of the meeting is the consideration of the qualifications of candidates for appointments to City boards and commissions. The purpose of the meeting is to permit the confidential discussion of appointments to City Council boards and commissions. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, pursuant to Section 2.2- 3712(0) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None On motion, meeting adjourned. Anita Y.
