FROM THE 1989-90 <br /> CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THEREPAIR AND~REPLACEMENT ? <br /> OF ROOFS ON VARIOUS CITY OWNED~BU~LDINGS." ~ <br /> <br /> 89-476 Letter from the City Manager ~eCommendin~ adoption <br />of an ordinance to appropriate $203,000 from the 1989-90 <br />Capital' Improvement Fund to locate and remove asbestos from <br />City owned buildings, and to award the bid to Nash Construction <br />Company. <br /> <br /> "The 1989-90 Capital Improvement~Plan authorized $250~000 <br />for the purpose of determining the location and condition of <br />asbestos in city owned buildings and its removal when found. <br /> <br /> BCM Engineers; Inc., a firm currently under contract with <br />the City of PortSmouth~has c~nfirmed the presence of asbestos <br />in the Ciovic Center Equipment Room after performing asbestos <br />sample colI~Ction, air monitoring, and analysis~ BCM estimates <br />their cost to be $35,000 to oversee the~asbestos removal for <br />this project. <br /> <br /> Bids were received on June 28, 1989 for asbestos removal <br />(see attachement).
