October 27. 2009 WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly deals with a broad range of issues that affect local government both directly and indirectly; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's General Assembly delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Legislature. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it endorses the attached legislative proposals for the 2010 General Assembly session and directs that both this resolution and the legislative proposals be forwarded to the Portsmouth General Assembly delegation." Ayes: Moody, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: 09-543 (B): "RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2011 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA PACKAGE. WHEREAS, the United States Congress deals with a broad range of issues that affect local government both directly and indirectly; and WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's congressional delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the Senate and the House of Representatives. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that it endorses the attached Fiscal Year 2011 Federal Priorities for the11 ih Congress and directs that both this resolution and the requests therein be forwarded to the City's congressional representatives." Ayes: Moody, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None - New Business - 09 - 544 - Boards and Commissions Mr. Moody offered the following nominations: BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD Sondra Eisenpress to be appointed to fill a term ending June 30,2012, replacing Cardell Patillo, Jr. BOARD OF BUILDING CODE APPEALS Alexander Stukes to be appointed to fill a term ending August 31, 2010, replacing Carol Heart.
