Bailey, Jr., 203 Dixie Avenue, representing the <br />Federation of Civic Clubs; <br /> <br /> G. M. Rose, 6407 Portsmouth Boulevard, representin~ the <br />Hedges Manor Civic League; and <br /> <br /> Ri~ha'rd Moore, 410 Park Manor~Road, representing the Park <br />Manor ¢ivic~ Club. .~ <br /> <br /> The Mayor explained to those present that the Council's <br />intentions were to request the Commonwealth of Virginia to <br />review the situation ,a~d all reasonable alternatives .to protect <br />both Smithfield,goods-and the environment. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Simpson and seconded by Mr. Barnes, the <br />following resolution was adopted on first and final reading, and <br />by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING SMITHFIELD FOODS AND ITS <br />IMPORTANCE TO THE ECONOMY OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Smithfield Foods is one of Portsmouth's corporate <br />citizens and has an economic impact on this community; and <br /> <br /> <br />
