AUQust 25. 2009 "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A REVISED SALE AND DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT FORA NEW PORTSMOUTH COURTHOUSE. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: 1. That the City Manager, acting for and on behalf of the City, is hereby authorized and directed to sign a Revised Sale and Development Agreement for a new Portsmouth Courthouse that is substantially the same as the instrument which is attached hereto, and that is approved as to form and legality by the City Attorney. 2. That the City Manager and the City Attorney are further authorized and directed to implement said agreement and to take all additional actions reasonably necessary to achieve its purposes. 3. That the City Manager and the City Attorney shall report timely and periodically to City Council on the status of implementing said agreement." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 09 - 447 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $43,840 from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and appropriating said funds in the FY 2009-2010 Grants Fund for use by the Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services for the City's Emergency Management Program. Vision Principle: Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. Background: . VDEM recognizes the critical role of emergency management at the local level. Strong local emergency management programs keep the Commonwealth safer, and allow all of us to respond and recover effectively and efficiently when an emergency or disasters occurs. . The grant requires a 1: 1 match ratio and the salary of the Deputy Coordinator of Emergency Management is utilized as the city's contribution. Discussion: . Emergency Management equipment, supplies and training is funded by this program. This funding is essential in supporting the mission of protecting Portsmouth citizens from natural and man made disasters. Financial Impact: . Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $43,840 FROM THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND APPROPRIATING SAID FUNDS IN THE FY 2009-2010 GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE, AND EMERGENCY SERVICES FOR THE CITY'S EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PROGRAM."
