September 26, 2000 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in addition to the benefits to our national defense, the location of <br />these F/A-18 E and F aircraft at Ocean Naval Air Station would be of great benefit to all <br />localities in the Hampton Roads region, including Portsmouth, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> That the City hereby encourages the Navy, through the Scoping Process, to <br />select Oceana Naval Air Station as the preferred alternative for placement of all the <br />East Coast F/A-18 E and F model aircraft." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />00 - 236 - Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a license <br />agreement with PF.Net Communications and to grant PF.Net permission to install <br />telecommunications facilities in the City's right-of-way as part of a regional system. <br /> <br />This action will allow for the enhance of additional telecommunications services <br />throughout the region. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a temporary <br />nonexclusive revocable license agreement with PF.Net Communications and to grant <br />PF.Net permission to install telecommunications facilities in the City's rights-of-way as <br />part of a regional system. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· To enhance the provision of additional telecommunications services throughout the <br />region. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The financial impact is minimal. PF.Net Communications will pay $1,000 to the City <br />for costs and expenses incurred by the City to grant this license agreement in addition <br />to all required business permits, fees and utility taxes. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A <br />NONEXCLUSIVE REVOCABLE LICENSE AGREEMENT TO INSTALL <br />TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITIES IN THE CITY'S RIGHTS-OF-WAY. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is desirable for the region to have additional telecommunications <br />facilities, and PF.Net Communications is installing a regional system which will <br />enhance the provision of additional telecommunications services throughout the region <br />and therefore needs to install facilities within the City's rights-of-way, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to <br />execute a Temporary Nonexclusive Revocable License Agreement with PF.Net <br />Communications of Virginia, and such other documents as may be necessary to <br />permit the installation by PF.Net Communications of telecommunications facilities <br />within the City's rights-of-way." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br /> <br />
