453 <br /> <br /> December 11, 1990 <br /> <br /> Each year, the City of Portsmouth is eligible to receive an <br />all~cation of state funds from the Virginia Division of Litter <br />~ontrol and Recycling. These funds are used to support the utean <br />Co~munx~y Program, provide assistance with litter control <br />projects, purchase litter receptacles, and augment the comm~unity <br />awareness and education program. The Portsmouth Beautification <br />and Clean Community Commission has been very active and successful <br />in prom~ing these activities in the City. The funds allocated to <br />Portsmouth will be $8,454.34, and no local match will be required. <br /> <br /> As part of the application process, the Division Of. Litter <br />Control and Recycling requires that the program be officially <br />endqrsed by the local governing body prior to its submission. I <br />request permission ~o submit the application to continue <br />Portsmouth's ulean uommunity Program and recom~elnd that you adopt <br />a resolution of support.
