<br />avaitabl~ for communities subject to the Chesapeake Blay
<br />Preservation Act. These funds are available on a comoetitive
<br />basis. The State will fund 50% of ,a. local~'~y's~B~z~y. A~t related
<br />work p~ogram. Specifically, Portsmouth ~ill b%~ a~p'lyi~ for
<br />$50,000 ~n financial assistance. In-kind match~rkg~se,rv, cea (staff
<br />time a~d expenses) will total $25,000.~ ..

<br />~hesapea%e Bay Act grant. She is responsible for makin, sure the
<br />City is,~An~ compliance with, the Clle,sapeake Bay Act enabl .ng
<br />le~sLa.tlon and assists the pu~l,~c ~th related Bay
<br />lnformaulon. ~ ~

<br /> Continued compliance with the Chesapeake Bay Act will require
<br />further mdjustments in the City s development review ~r6cedures,
<br />ordinances and Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Direbt~)r proposes
<br />to continue to off-set some of the costs of the .p~gr~m with tne

<br />Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act, the City, of Portsmouth, Virginia,

<br />review p~ocedures, its ordinances, and its ~ompreherus ve Plan, anc

<br />WHEREAS, the Commonwealth' of Virginia, through the Chesapeak
<br />Bay Local Assistance Department, has made available tD localities
<br />on a competitive baals, certain f.~n~ds tO help d~fra~.:hn~ Act s
