Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 2713 Sterling Point Drive, asked that the restoration of <br />voting rights be included in the 2009 General Assembly Package. <br /> <br />08-457 (a): <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Smith, and seconded by Ms. Psi mas, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2009 GENERAL ASSEMBLY <br />LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia General Assembly deals with a broad range of issues <br />that affect local government both directly and indirectly; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both <br />Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's General <br />Assembly delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the <br />Legislature. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it endorses the attached legislative proposals for the 2009 <br />General Assembly session and directs that both this resolution and the legislative <br />proposals be forwarded to the Portsmouth General Assembly delegation." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />1. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, asked that Council defer this item to <br />allow the History Commission to review the Star Spangled Banner and War of <br />1812 Bicentennial Commission Act to ascertain Virginia's role in the War of 1812 <br />be honored. <br /> <br />08-457 (b): <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE CITY'S 2010 FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE AGENDA <br />PACKAGE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Congress deals with a broad range of issues that <br />affect local government both directly and indirectly; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has certain concerns that deal with both <br />Portsmouth specifically and local governments in general; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these concerns need to be made known to Portsmouth's <br />congressional delegation so that they may be transmitted for consideration by the <br />Senate and the House of Representatives. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that it endorses the attached Fiscal Year 2010 Federal Priorities <br />for the111 th Congress and directs that both this resolution and the requests therein be <br />forwarded to the City's congressional representatives." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br />
