This area now provides a staff parking area
for the Hospital..

Maryview has informed the City that it is in need of new
land area, which the City now owns as a part of the Woodrow
Wilson High School site to replace the area lost to widening.
They have also expressed an interest in leasing additional land
in the area of our water tower for parking. Such an exchange
would provide the City with an opportunity to accomplish what it
must do in this area without the necessity of purchasing
valuable front footage with City funds.

I, therefore, recommend the passage of this resolution
which would provide the opportunity to enter into an agreement
with Maryview Medical Center which is in the best interest;of
all our citizens."

Motion of Mr. King and seconded by Mr. Clemons, the
following resolution was adopted on first and final reading, and
by the following vote:.

"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE PORTSMOUTH INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
TO FACILITATE THE EXCHANGE OF PROPERTIES BETWEEN THE CITY OF
PORTSMOUTH AND MARYVIEW HOSPITAL PERTAINING TO THE WIDENING OF
HIGH STREET, AND AUTHORIZING THE'CITY MANAGER TO CARRY OUT THE
TERMS OF SAID AGREEMENT.

WHEREAS, the City of Portsmouth has determined that it is
necessary to the health, safety and welfare of its citizens to
widen High Street in the area of Maryview Hospital; and

WHEREAS, the proposed widening necessitates the taking of
portions of Maryview Hospital property now used as a parking
area; and
