<br />July 22. 2008 <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, that Agenda Item 08-332 be <br />denied by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Moody, Psi mas, Smith <br />Nays: Heretick, Holley <br />Abstain: Randall, Whitehurst <br /> <br />08 - 333 - Adoption of a resolution to convey a portion of a parcel of property located at <br />3300 George Washington Highway at its intersection with Harley Avenue (Tax and <br />Parcel 0095-0136) to the Economic Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia. Vision Principle: A Robust and Prospering Economy. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The City owns a parcel of property known as 3300 George Washington Highway, <br />which is located at its intersection with Harley Avenue. <br />. The City has received a request from Adams Outdoor Advertising Limited <br />Partnership to purchase a portion of said parcel. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. City Council is requested to adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to <br />execute a Deed and any other necessary documents to convey to the Economic <br />Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth a portion of the above described <br />property as shown on the Exhibit attached hereto and to do any and all acts necessary <br />to effect said conveyance. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br />. The sale of this property would place the property back on the City Tax Rolls and <br />the responsibility for maintaining the property would be the responsibility of the <br />purchaser. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of resolution. Vision Principal: A Robust and Prospering Economy. <br /> <br />Next Steps following Council Action: <br />. The City Manager will execute the Deed conveying the property subject to such <br />easements as may be necessary to be reserved for any City infrastructure lying within <br />said parcel, and any other necessary instruments to convey to the Economic <br />Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth that portion of the above property as <br />shown on the Exhibit attached hereto, and to do any and all acts necessary to effect <br />said conveyance. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A DEED AND <br />OTHER NECESSARY INSTRUMENTS TO CONVEY TO ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA A <br />PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED AT 3300 GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY AT THE <br />INTERSECTION OF HARLEY AVENUE AND DESIGNATED AS TAX PARCEL 0095- <br />0136. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a deed and other necessary <br />instruments to convey to Economic Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia a parcel of land located at 3300 George Washington Highway at the <br />intersection of Harley Avenue and designated as Tax Parcel 0095-0136, as shown on <br />the exhibit attached hereto, and to do any and all acts necessary to effect said <br />conveyance." <br />
