July 22. 2008 Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, that Agenda Item 08-332 be denied by the following vote: Ayes: Moody, Psi mas, Smith Nays: Heretick, Holley Abstain: Randall, Whitehurst 08 - 333 - Adoption of a resolution to convey a portion of a parcel of property located at 3300 George Washington Highway at its intersection with Harley Avenue (Tax and Parcel 0095-0136) to the Economic Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. Vision Principle: A Robust and Prospering Economy. Background: . The City owns a parcel of property known as 3300 George Washington Highway, which is located at its intersection with Harley Avenue. . The City has received a request from Adams Outdoor Advertising Limited Partnership to purchase a portion of said parcel. Discussion: . City Council is requested to adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Deed and any other necessary documents to convey to the Economic Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth a portion of the above described property as shown on the Exhibit attached hereto and to do any and all acts necessary to effect said conveyance. Financial Impact: . The sale of this property would place the property back on the City Tax Rolls and the responsibility for maintaining the property would be the responsibility of the purchaser. The City Manager will execute the Deed conveying the property subject to such easements as may be necessary to be reserved for any City infrastructure lying within said parcel, and any other necessary instruments to convey to the Economic Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth that portion of the above property as shown on the Exhibit attached hereto, and to do any and all acts necessary to effect said conveyance. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Smith, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A DEED AND OTHER NECESSARY INSTRUMENTS TO CONVEY TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA A PARCEL OF LAND LOCATED AT 3300 GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGHWAY AT THE INTERSECTION OF HARLEY AVENUE AND DESIGNATED AS TAX PARCEL 0095- 0136. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a deed and other necessary instruments to convey to Economic Development Authority of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia a parcel of land located at 3300 George Washington Highway at the intersection of Harley Avenue and designated as Tax Parcel 0095-0136, as shown on the exhibit attached hereto, and to do any and all acts necessary to effect said conveyance."
