<br />Mav 27.2008 <br /> <br />At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, there were present: <br /> <br />*Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Marlene W. Randall, *William E. Moody, Jr., Stephen E. <br />Heretick, Elizabeth M. Psimas, *Ray A Smith, Sr., Douglas L. Smith, City Manager Kenneth L. <br />Chandler, Senior Deputy City Attorney George M. Willson. <br /> <br />08 - 247 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br />"Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the 6th Floor <br />Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27,2008 for the purpose of a <br />Public Work Session. <br /> <br />In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />08 - 248 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Pneumo Abex Escrow Account - Betty Burrell, Chief Financial Officer <br /> <br />2. Community Planning and Development Program FY09 - Robin Herbert, CPO Administrator <br /> <br />3. Parking District Update - Richard Hartman, City Engineer <br /> <br />4. Court House Briefing - Hargrove Brockwell Associates (HBA) <br /> <br />08 - 249 - Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to go into Closed Meeting <br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.2-3711 of the Code of Virginia to discuss: <br /> <br />. A prospective new business or industry, or a business expansion, where there <br />has been no prior public announcement of the business' or industry's interest, as <br />permitted under Subsection A5. <br /> <br />The purpose of the meeting is to permit a confidential discussion of a prospective new <br />business or industry, or expansion in the Churchland section of the City, where there has been <br />no prior public announcement of the business' or industry's interest. <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. R. Smith, and seconded by Ms. Randall, pursuant to Section 2.2-3712(0) <br />of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Members' knowledge during the <br />immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by <br />the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br />2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion, by which <br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br />the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br />On motion, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Minutes prepared by: <br /> <br />Anita Y.
