NOvember 28, 2000 ~ 307: <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, November 28, 2000, there <br />were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, <br />P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn Ill, William E. Moody, Jr., Chades B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., Deputy City Manager H. Timothy Little, City Attorney Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br />00 - 286 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City <br />Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, <br />November 28, 2000, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br />in addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. <br />By order of the Mayor." <br />00 - 287 - The following item was discussed in Public Work Session: <br />1. Virginia Sports Hall of Fame <br /> <br />00 - 288 - Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to go into Closed <br />Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss <br />or consider the following: <br /> <br /> First, the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as <br />authorized by paragraph 3, with the subject properties being in the downtown area of <br />the City and also in the City of Suffolk; <br /> <br /> second, consultation with legal counsel regarding specific legal matters <br />requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel, as authorized by paragraph 7; <br />and <br /> <br /> third, personnel matters, as authorized by paragraph 1. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's <br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: <br /> <br /> 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting <br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and <br /> <br /> 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which <br /> the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in <br /> the meeting by the City Council. <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion, meeting adjourned. <br />Minutes prepared by~.~ <br /> <br />vicor .
