<br />April 22. 2008 <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of resolution. Vision Principle: Bold New Directions. <br /> <br />Next Steps following City Council Action: <br />. The City Manager will execute the deed and any other documents necessary to <br />release the easement, or a portion thereof, as necessary to the Economic Development <br />Authority, and or its successors and assigns in title as may be required for orderly <br />development of the area. <br />. The Offices of the City Attorney and City Surveyor will draft appropriate plats and <br />documents in order to effectuate the exchange. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. D. Smith, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RELEASE EASEMENTS <br />GRANTED TO THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH FOR WATER AND SANITARY SEWER <br />TO THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA AND OR ITS SUCESSORS AND ASSIGNS IN TITLE <br />LYING WITHIN THAT AREA BOUNDED BY GREENWOOD DRIVE, VICTORY <br />BOULEVARD, CAVALIER BOULEVARD, AND MCLEAN STREET OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth that the City <br />Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute a deed or deeds of release and <br />any other documents necessary thereto to the Economic Development Authority of the <br />City of Portsmouth, Virginia and or its successors and assigns in title for those certain <br />easements for water and sewer lines granted the City of Portsmouth by Foundation <br />Boy's Academy, Incorporated, dated August 30, 1958, and duly recorded in the Clerk's <br />Office of the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Virginia in Deed Book 1272, at <br />page 492, as may be required and necessary for the orderly development of that <br />property being generally bounded by Greenwood Drive, Victory Boulevard, Cavalier <br />Boulevard, and McLean Street." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Peggy Preddy, 1328 Hodges Ferry Road, informed City Council of how the offset in <br />the Portsmouth Supplemental Retirement System (PSRS) has affected her quality of <br />life. <br /> <br />2. Amos Taylor, 621 Lakeshore Drive, voiced his concern with regards to the different <br />proposed pay increases for general wage and public safety employees. <br /> <br />3. J. Brewer Moore, 308 Bobby Jones Drive, suggested to City Council that the History <br />Commission may be better served if it were attached to the Public Library. <br />
