2O3 <br /> <br />January 13, 1992 <br /> <br /> At a Called meeting of the City Council held on Monday, <br />January 13, 1992, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O~ Webb, *Vice Mayor E. G. Corprew, Jrt, Johnny <br />M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, Lee E. King, **James C. Hawks, <br />Junius H. Williams, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, <br />City Attorney <br /> <br />91-415 - The following call for the mee%i~g was. r~ad: <br /> <br /> "Please~attend a called meeting of the City Council to be <br />held in the uity Council Chambers, 6th floor of City Hal~, 801 <br />Crawford Street, at 4.45 p.m., Monday, January 13, 1992 ~or the <br />purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition you may consider a motion to go into an Executive <br />Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br /> 91-03 - The following~ i~+_e~was discussed in the Public Work <br />Session: <br /> <br /> 1. Council considered the appeal of <br />of the Commission of Architectural Review' <br />property at 39 Gillis Road. <br /> <br />Mr. Patrick M~ Downing <br />decision concerning <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Epperson and seconded by Mr. Williams~ to <br />uphold the decision by the Commission of Architectural Review <br />~ertaining to the color paint for the awning and shutters, but the <br />sptlt rail fence was referred back to the Commission o <br />Architectural Review for further consideration, and was approved <br />by the following vote, 4-1 (Clemons) <br /> <br /> 92-04 - On motion of Mr. K~ng and seconded by Mr. C~emons, to <br />go into Executive Session pursuant to S~ction '2.1-344 o~!the Code <br />of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Discussion and consideration of prospective candidates <br />for employment .~tbe~City Manager's staff aS permitted <br />under Subsection (A) (1); <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />Consideration of appointments to Boards and C~mmissions <br />by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) <br />(1). <br /> <br />Motion adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Williams and seconded by Mr. King, pursuant <br />to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to <br />the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately <br />preceding Executive Session of the City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open <br />meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, <br />and <br /> <br /> (2) Only such public business matter as were identified in <br />the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, <br /> <br /> were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the <br />City Council. <br /> <br />On motion was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />On motion meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />,Mayor <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />* Vice Mayor Corprew arrived at 5:30 p.m. <br />**Councilman James C.
