Calvary Baptist Church and Tidewater <br />Child Ca're Association were bot~ given options to ~urchase <br />portions of City-owned property on Thomas Circle. While expressing <br />an interest in the entire parcel, Mt. Calvary requested transfer <br />of its portion from the City to the Portsmouth Redevelopment and <br />Housing Authority, which action was authorized by'you in October <br />1991. <br /> <br /> Tidewater Day Care has now relinquished its option, and the <br />City Attorney has drafted the attached resolution authorizing <br />transfer-of~ the remainder'of the parcel to PRHA.-who will handle <br />the sale of the property to the Church. The net proceeds to the <br />City by PRHA. <br /> <br /> In order to fulfill the prxor commitment to the Church, I <br />recommend your approval of the resolution." <br /> <br /> Moti.on of Mr. Clemons and seconded by Mr. Wit~liams, the <br />following reso'lution was adopted.on first and'final readin~ with <br />the understanding that there w~ll be no time restraint on the <br />purchasing time and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> "A ~ESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY TO THE <br />PORTSMOUTH REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING AUTHORITY CERTAIN PROPERTY <br />LOCATED WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE WEAVER REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT, <br />VA. R-40. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of.Portsmouth owns the hereinafter <br />deseribed~real property located within the boundaries of the <br />Weaver Redevelopment Project, VA. R-40, which property is no <br />longer required.for public purposes and is~ hereby, declared <br />excess prDperty, and <br /> <br />to be <br /> <br /> .WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Portsmouth deems it to be <br />in tne be~t interest of the City for said property to be developed <br />and put t~ its best and highest use. <br /> <br /> <br />
