December 12, 2000 <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· There will be no loss of revenue and there will be an opportunity to receive future <br />sale proceeds, the amount of which cannot be reasonably determined at this time. <br /> <br />· If the Park is later sold for private development, Portsmouth and Suffolk will divide <br />the net proceeds. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF <br />SLEEPY HOLE PARK TO THE CITY OF SUFFOLK. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />That the City Manager, acting for and on behalf of the City, is authorized to enter <br />into an agreement with the City of Suffolk providing for conveyance to Suffolk of <br />the property commonly known as Sleepy Hole Park. <br />The agreement shall be substantially the same as that which is attached to this <br />resolution, and which is incorporated herein and made a part hereof. <br />The boundaries of the property to be conveyed shall be substantially as shown <br />on the attached plan view entitled "Sleepy Hole Park." <br />The City Manager is further authorized and directed to take all actions necessary <br />to implement said agreement, including without limitation the execution and <br />delivery of a deed conveying the subject property to Suffolk." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />00 - 317 - Mr. Griffin offered the following nomination: <br /> <br />PLANNING COUNCIL <br /> <br />Cameron C. Pitts to be reappointed to the Board of Directors for a one-year term ending <br />December 31, 2001. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to close the nominations, and <br />there being no further nominations, the above nomination was adopted by unanimous <br />vote. <br /> <br />00 - 318 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />Councilman Whitehurst asked for a marketing plan for the shops in Admiral's <br />Landing and how the City plans to use that property. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to extend the contract with <br />City Manager Ronald W. Massie through February 28, 2001 under the same terms and <br />conditions as were outlined in the May 15, 1999 agreement, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Griffin wished everyone a happy holiday season. <br /> <br />Recognition by City Council of Robert P. Creecy on his retirement. <br /> <br />00 - 319 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br />1. Helen Person, 1314 Green Street, requested that Council be mindful of the <br /> "Portsmouth Family" in 2001. <br /> <br /> <br />
