December 12, 2000 Financial Impact: · There will be no loss of revenue and there will be an opportunity to receive future sale proceeds, the amount of which cannot be reasonably determined at this time. · If the Park is later sold for private development, Portsmouth and Suffolk will divide the net proceeds. Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT FOR THE CONVEYANCE OF SLEEPY HOLE PARK TO THE CITY OF SUFFOLK. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia: That the City Manager, acting for and on behalf of the City, is authorized to enter into an agreement with the City of Suffolk providing for conveyance to Suffolk of the property commonly known as Sleepy Hole Park. The agreement shall be substantially the same as that which is attached to this resolution, and which is incorporated herein and made a part hereof. The boundaries of the property to be conveyed shall be substantially as shown on the attached plan view entitled "Sleepy Hole Park." The City Manager is further authorized and directed to take all actions necessary to implement said agreement, including without limitation the execution and delivery of a deed conveying the subject property to Suffolk." Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None - New Business - 00 - 317 - Mr. Griffin offered the following nomination: PLANNING COUNCIL Cameron C. Pitts to be reappointed to the Board of Directors for a one-year term ending December 31, 2001. Motion by Mr. Griffin, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to close the nominations, and there being no further nominations, the above nomination was adopted by unanimous vote. 00 - 318 - Items Submitted by Council Members Councilman Whitehurst asked for a marketing plan for the shops in Admiral's Landing and how the City plans to use that property. Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to extend the contract with City Manager Ronald W. Massie through February 28, 2001 under the same terms and conditions as were outlined in the May 15, 1999 agreement, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None Vice Mayor Griffin wished everyone a happy holiday season.
