December 12, 2000 <br /> <br /> At a Regular Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, December 12, 2000, <br />there were present: <br /> <br />Mayor James W. Holley III, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, <br />P. Ward Robinett, Jr., J. Thomas Benn III, William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, <br />Sr., Deputy City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney Timothy Oksman. <br /> <br /> Rev. Bernard Thomas opened the meeting with prayer, which was followed by <br />the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mayor Holley called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to approve the minutes of a <br />Called Meeting on November 28, 2000, a Regular Meeting on November 28, 2000, and <br />a Called Meeting on November 30, 2000, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />00 - 309 - Presentations: <br /> <br />Proclamation presented to Rosemary Epperson for "Drunk and Drugged Driving (3D) <br />Prevention Month". <br /> <br />Proclamation presented to Justin Cravey for "Justin Cravey Day". <br /> <br />Presentation of special lapel pins to newly appointed Boards and Commissions <br />members. <br /> <br />- Public Hearing - <br /> <br />00 - 310 - Public hearing on a comprehensive plan and use permit applications: <br /> <br />(a) U P-00-16 <br /> <br />PEACHTREE NEIGHBORHOOD - American Classic Self-Storage <br />requests a use permit to expand a self-storage facility at 3571 <br />Gateway Drive. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that UP-00-16 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by a vote of 6-0-1. (Mr. Robinett abstained because of a <br />family member who has a financial benefit in the item.) <br /> <br />(b) UP-00-19 <br /> <br />CAVALIER MANOR NEIGHBORHOOD - Joyous Sound Education <br />and Enrichment Center requests a use permit to operate a child <br />care facility at 205 Gust Lane. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to concur with the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission that UP-00-19 be approved on first <br />reading, and was adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br />(c) CP-00-02 <br /> <br />RIVER POINT NEIGHBORHOOD An amendment to the <br />Comprehensive Plan's Tax Base and Jobs section to permit <br />residential development in the River Pointe Office Park. <br />Amendments will also be made to the following tables: Exhibit 4-5, <br />Development Strategy, Exhibit 4-7, General Land Use and Exhibit <br />8-1, Major Development Opportunities. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Benn, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to postpone consideration of <br />CP-00-02 to the public hearing meeting of February 27, 2001, and was adopted by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> <br />
