596 October 9. 2007 07 - 446 - Items Submitted by Council Members ~ Mr. D. Smith informed Council and citizens that the Virginia Port Authority will be hosting an open house with discussions on the eastward expansion of Craney Island and the development of the Craney Island terminal, October 23,2007,5 - 9 p.m., at Churchland High School for those who would like to attend. ~ Mr. Moody reminded citizens that the Woman's Club of Portsmouth will be hosting a General Assembly Candidate Forum, Tuesday, October 16, 2007, 7 - 9 p.m. at 304 Sycamore Road, Portsmouth. 07 - 447- Report on Pending Items There were no pending items. 07 - 448 - Non-Agenda Speakers 1. Jewel Maguire, 4642 West Norfolk Road, voiced her concern with the sound wall not being constructed on 1-164 and how the lack of a wall has contributed to the decreased quality of life for the residents. 2. Patricia Edgerton, 4504 West Norfolk Road, gave a timeline of the bill that has been introduced in Congress to attain funding for the construction of a sound wall and also voiced her concern that this bill may eventually get lost amid other priorities facing Congress. 3. Clyde Toler, 1029 Blair Street, thanked the City Manager for coming to his home to discuss some of the problems facing his neighborhood and also informed Council of other areas in the City that need to be cleaned. 4. Deon Foster, 638 High Street, voiced her concern with the effect the aggressive parking enforcement will have on businesses in the downtown area. 5. Steve Carroll, 3112 Riveredge Drive, voiced his concern with the lack of a sound wall on 1-164. On motion, meeting adjourned at 8:38 p.m. Anita Y.
