This appropriation will fund Portsmouth's purchase of emergency raw water from <br />the City of Norfolk for up to 28 weeks at a level of 10 million gallons per day and a rate <br />of $1.08 per 1,000 gallons in accordance with the terms of the October 4, 2002 contract <br />for a total cost not to exceed $2,116,800. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principles: A Robust and Prospering Economy <br />and Thriving Neighborhoods and a Sense of Community. <br /> <br />Next Steps following City Council Action: <br />. As water supply conditions dictate, Portsmouth's Director of Public Utilities/Works <br />will advise the City of Norfolk of Portsmouth's desire to purchase surplus, raw water on <br />an emergency basis under the terms and conditions of the October 4, 2002 contract. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. R. Smith, and seconded by Ms. Psi mas, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $2,116,800 IN THE FY 2007-2008 PUBLIC <br />UTILITIES FUND OPERATING BUDGET FROM UNRESTRICTED RETAINED <br />EARNINGS TO PURCHASE EMERGENCY DROUGHT RAW WATER FROM THE <br />CITY OF NORFOLK." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D.
