515 <br /> <br /> October 27, 1992 <br /> <br /> The following members Of the Pianning commission were present <br />for a joint Public Hearing with City Council: <br /> <br /> S.usan Hiansen, Derry Haywood, ~Raymond Turner, James Spruill, <br /> James Overton, Flossie Bridgeford. <br /> <br />The followin~ spoke concerning the Capital Improvement Plan: <br /> <br /> Richard! J. Harrison, Jr., 3301 Bruin Drive, Chairman, Hampton <br />Roads Chambeir of Commerce, Portsmouth Division, spoke in support <br />of~the fundiing of the Children"s Museum. <br /> <br /> J. H. Filesher, 3916 Flagship Way, representing the Long Point <br />Civic Leaguel, spoke in opposition to the City borrowing $10 <br />million dolllars. <br /> <br /> Ann SteWart, 5219 Cobble Hilll Road, opposed ispending '.5 <br />million dOlLars for new construction of school buildings, <br /> <br /> Dottle ~yatt, 99 Channing Avenue, concerned about funding for <br />a new scho°ii and stated the location for the new school should be <br />the Harry Hulnt site. <br /> <br /> Michaeli Fa[rell, 1906 Rodman AVenue, requested funding for <br />the new >scholo1 and it Should beliocated on the Har~Y Hunt site. <br /> <br /> Reid Rapoport, 309 High Street, representing Olde Towne <br />Portsmouth ~ssociation, spoke in support of the Capital <br />Improvement Plan. <br /> <br /> Patricim B. Pond, 400 Westmoreland Avenue, representing <br />Wilson High SchOol Alumni ASsociation, spoke in opposition to the <br />closing of ilson High School and the construction of a new high <br />school. <br /> <br /> JoEllen GOod, 14 Kearney Way, spoke in oppoSition to <br />construction~of a new I. C, Nor¢om High SchoOl. <br /> <br /> Jerri'L. Cohen, 600 City Park Avenue, spoke in opposition to <br />the construc!tion of a new I. C. Norcom. <br /> <br /> Helen Ai. Harris, 1409 Wilcox Avenue, requested that the <br />Brighton Proijects be fully funded and ComPleted. <br /> <br /> James Nlixon, 1700 Lansing Avenue, representing the Brighton <br />Prentis' ParkI Civic League, requested full funding fOr the Brighton <br />projects andI that work in that area be completed. <br /> <br /> 92-361 Public Hearfng to consider the application for <br /> ~ exemption from taxes filed On behalf~ of Help and <br /> !
