January 12, 1993 <br /> <br />573 <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Pitts .and. seconded by Mr. Griffin to deny UP-92-20 <br /> and was adopte~by'~ 52J ~Ctem0ns, King) vote. <br /> <br /> - CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br /> <br />93-13 Lett(r from the City Manager recommending adoption of an <br />ordinance to appropriate $58,310 from the Capital Improvements <br />Fund to complete exhibit design mechanisms as well as design of <br />the planetarium at the new Children's Museum, and authorizing the <br />City Manager to execute an amended contract with Hands On!, the <br />design consul rant, to exceed 25% of the original contract as <br />provided for under the City's purchasing ordinance. <br /> <br /> "The 19!2-97 Capital ~mprovement Plan includes funds in FY <br />92-93 for corstruction of the Children's Museum in the former <br />Leggett buil(ing. The design of building improvements has been <br />completed. 'ith funding o~ the project, it is now necessary to <br />complete the ]esign of. the mechanisms required for operation of <br />approximatel} 15 of the exhibits. This portion of the design <br />referred to ~ prototyping. Funds are also required to complete <br />the design, o~ the planetarium, which has now been included in the <br />project. Thc additional funds requested at this time are as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> Exhibit Prototyping $35,000 <br /> Planeta]ium Design $11,310 <br /> Contingencies $12,000 <br /> <br /> TOTAL AIPROPRIATION $58,310 <br /> <br /> In orde~ to include the cost of prototyping, the Director of <br />Public Works ~lso recommends that you authorize an increase in the <br />contract wit? Hands On!, the design consultant. <br /> <br /> I concu~ and therefor~ recommend appropriation, o~ $58~310 and <br />approval to exceed 25% of ~he original contract with Hands On!, <br />the design c(nsultant.
