November 14. 2006 All that certain piece or parcel of land shown as a portion of the right-of- way containing approximately 1.2 acres, more or less, which lies south of the Victory Boulevard bridge over Paradise Creek and between the eastern right of way line of Victory Boulevard and Paradise Creek and as shown on the exhibit attached hereto. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute such deeds, plats and other documents necessary to effect the conveyance of property herein authorized between the City and the Economic Development Authority as may be required, and to require such deeds and documents to contain such other provisions as he may deem appropriate and in the best interest of the City of Portsmouth." Smith, Holley Nays: None - New Business - 06 - 516 - Boards and Commissions There were no appointments. 06 - 517 - Items Submitted by Council Members '" Mr. Douglas Smith informed Council of the ceremony he attended, along with Ms. Randall, celebrating Adoption Awareness Month. He also made Council aware that the adoption unit of the Social Services Department had been recognized by the Commonwealth for their excellence. '" Motion by Mr. Ray Smith, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to amend the order of business to permit consideration at this time of a resolution concerning a Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Select Site, and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley Nays: None '" Motion by Mr. Ray Smith, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to adopt the following resolution, which will permit a DMV Select Site to be operated by the Commissioner of the Revenue within City Hall. If approved, this new site will make it easier and more convenient for many Portsmouth citizens to conduct routine DMV transactions, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ESTABLISHING A DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES "SELECT SITE" IN THE OFFICE IN OF THE COMMISSIONER OF THE REVENUE, IN PORTSMOUTH CITY HALL. BE IT RESOLVED by the Portsmouth City Council: 1. The City of Portsmouth hereby officially endorses and authorizes the establishment of a Department of Motor Vehicles ("DMV") "Select Site" in the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue, in Portsmouth City Hall, as authorized by Virginia Code S46.2-205. 2. The DMV Select Site shall be established pursuant to the terms set forth in the attached "License Agent's Agreement," between DMV and the Commissioner of the Revenue or an agreement substantially the same which has been approved by the City Attorney.
