<br />November 14. 2006 <br /> <br />All that certain piece or parcel of land shown as a portion of the right-of- <br />way containing approximately 1.2 acres, more or less, which lies south of <br />the Victory Boulevard bridge over Paradise Creek and between the <br />eastern right of way line of Victory Boulevard and Paradise Creek and as <br />shown on the exhibit attached hereto. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />execute such deeds, plats and other documents necessary to effect the conveyance of <br />property herein authorized between the City and the Economic Development Authority <br />as may be required, and to require such deeds and documents to contain such other <br />provisions as he may deem appropriate and in the best interest of the City of <br />Portsmouth." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />06 - 516 - Boards and Commissions <br /> <br />There were no appointments. <br /> <br />06 - 517 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br />'" Mr. Douglas Smith informed Council of the ceremony he attended, along with <br />Ms. Randall, celebrating Adoption Awareness Month. He also made Council <br />aware that the adoption unit of the Social Services Department had been <br />recognized by the Commonwealth for their excellence. <br /> <br />'" Motion by Mr. Ray Smith, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to amend the order <br />of business to permit consideration at this time of a resolution concerning a <br />Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) Select Site, and was adopted by the <br />following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />'" Motion by Mr. Ray Smith, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to adopt the <br />following resolution, which will permit a DMV Select Site to be operated by the <br />Commissioner of the Revenue within City Hall. If approved, this new site will <br />make it easier and more convenient for many Portsmouth citizens to conduct <br />routine DMV transactions, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ESTABLISHING A DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR <br />VEHICLES "SELECT SITE" IN THE OFFICE IN OF THE COMMISSIONER OF THE <br />REVENUE, IN PORTSMOUTH CITY HALL. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Portsmouth City Council: <br /> <br />1. The City of Portsmouth hereby officially endorses and authorizes the <br />establishment of a Department of Motor Vehicles ("DMV") "Select Site" in the Office of <br />the Commissioner of the Revenue, in Portsmouth City Hall, as authorized by Virginia <br />Code S46.2-205. <br /> <br />2. The DMV Select Site shall be established pursuant to the terms set forth in <br />the attached "License Agent's Agreement," between DMV and the Commissioner of the <br />Revenue or an agreement substantially the same which has been approved by the City <br />Attorney. <br />
