January 9, 2001 Purpose and Need: · This easement is to be used to service the City Compound. Financial Impact: · There is no financial impact for this item. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONVEY AN EASEMENT TO COLUMBIA GAS AT THE CITY COMPOUND. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to convey to Columbia Gas of Virginia of Virginia, Inc. an easement over and across a pamel of property as shown on Drawing Number V740-83-00, as prepared by Columbia Gas of Virginia, Inc., a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof." Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Halley Nays: None - New Business - 01 - 20 - Boards and Commissions There were no appointments. 01 - 21 - Items Submitted by Council Members > Councilman Benn announced Bishop Chades Bowens II passing on 2001. January 6, Councilman Whitehurst asked for a staff report on the Seawall Festival and its future. Vice Mayor Griffin asked that additional homage be given to both the families of Raymond Turner and Bishop Charles Bowens II. Councilman Moody asked about water connection fees related to seniors paying deposits. 01 - 22 - Non-Agenda SPeakers Raleigh Harsley, 2124 Peach Street, spoke on Gosport Auto and its need to be cleaned up. Also, spoke in opposition to a neighbor's driveway adjacent to his property. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, expressed appreciation to the press. Commented that the Commission of ArChitectural Review appeal process conducted during a Public Work Session affords no opportunity for public speakers other than the parties.
