<br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, January 9, 2001, there were

<br />01 - 09 - The following call for the meeting was read:
<br />
<br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council
<br /> th
<br />Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6 floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2001 for the
<br />purpose of a Public Work Session.
<br />
<br />In addition, you may Consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />
<br />By order of the Mayor."
<br />
<br />01 - 10 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session:
<br />
<br />1. Commission of Architectural Review Appeal for 516 North Street
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Benn, to defer action until February
<br />27, 2001, and to refer back to Commission of Architectural Review for Olde Towne,
<br />Cradock and Truxtun and the Department of Planning for a thorough review with the
<br />applicant for position on this particular issue, and was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />Councilman Robinett also requested the Commission of Architectural Review to
<br />redefine building materials, minutes from the August 22, 2000 meeting need to be
<br />reviewed for incorrect vote and a recommendation for appropriateness of fence at
<br />Dinwiddie Street and North Street.
<br />
<br />2. Police Department 2000 Year-end Report
<br />
<br />01 - 11 - Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, to go into Closed Meeting
<br />pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or
<br />consider the following:
<br />
<br /> the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by
<br />subparagraph 3. The subject property is located in the downtown waterfront area of the
<br />city.
<br />
<br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Griffin, pursuant to Section
<br />2.1-344.1(D) of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's
<br />knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council:
<br />
<br />1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting
<br /> requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and
<br />
<br />Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which
<br />the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in
<br />the meeting by the City Council.
<br />
<br />The motion was adopted by unanimous vote.
<br />
<br />On motion, meeting adjourned.
