Auqust 10, 1993 <br /> <br /> At a Regular Meeting of the City Council held on Tuesday, <br />August 10, 1993, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. <br />Clemons, John H. Epperson, *Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. <br />Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City <br />Attorney. <br /> <br />*Councilman Griffin arrived at 7:08 p.m. <br /> <br /> Reverend Donald Seely, Centenary United Methodist Church, <br />opened the meeting with prayer which was followed by the Pledge <br />of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br /> Mayor Webb called the meeting to order and welcomed all in <br />attendance. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, the <br />minutes Of a called meeting on July 27, 1993; a Regular Meeting <br />on July 27, 1993, were approved, and were adopted and by <br />unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 93-306 - Presentation to Jane Moore, Commander, Disabled <br />American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 41 and Ruth Stokes, Chairman, <br />Chapter 22 for "Forget-Me-Not-Days". <br /> <br /> 93-307 Presentation of special lapel pins to newly <br />appointed Boards and Commissions members. <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, to amend the <br />order of business to discuss and consider the Public Hearing <br />items at this point in the meeting and was adopted by unanimous <br />vote. <br /> <br />- Public Hearing - <br /> <br /> 93-309 - Public Hearing on rezoning and group housing <br />project applications: <br /> <br />(a) Z-93-09 <br /> <br />CHURCHLAND NEIGHBORHOOD - Rezoning application <br />of Horton & Dodd, P.C., to rezone the Portsmouth <br />portion of property at 3204 Churchland Boulevard <br />from Residential RS-150 to Commercial C-1. <br /> <br />J. Gregory Dodd, 164 S. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, VA, <br />spoke in favor of the rezoning application. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, to <br />concur with the reco~endation of the Planning Commission that <br />Z-93-09 be approved on first reading and by a vote of 6-0. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Z-93-10 TRUXTUN NEIGHBORHOOD - Rezoning application of the <br /> City of Portsmouth to modify the conditions of the <br /> present Commercial C-2-K ConditiOnal zoning at <br /> 3409 Deep Creek Boulevard. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Clemons, and seconded by Mr. King, to concur <br />with the recommendation of the Planning Commission that Z-93-10 <br />be approved on first reading and by a vote of 6-0. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />Z-93-11 CHURCHLAND NEIGHBORHOOD - Rezoning application of <br /> River Pointe Associates, Inc. to modify the <br /> conditions of the present Residential RM-60-K <br /> Conditional zoning on property lying to the west <br /> of River Pointe Parkway and south of River Pointe <br /> Drive. <br /> <br />J. S. Livesay, Jr., 301 Columbia Street, spoke in favor of the <br />rezoning and group housing applications. <br /> <br /> <br />
