AUQust 8. 2006 "ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $45,625 FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE SERVICES AND APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT IN THE FY 2006-2007 GRANTS FUND FOR THE V-STOP PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE COMMONWEALTH'S ATTORNEY' OFFICE." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, D. Smith, R. Smith, Holley Nays: None 06 - 357 - Adoption of an ordinance accepting a grant in the amount of $16,550 from the Virginia Department of Mental Health Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS) and appropriating said amount in the FY 2006-2007 Behavioral Healthcare Services Fund Operating Budget to fund a Joint Program of Assertive Community Treatment with the City of Chesapeake. Vision Principle: Neighborhood and Community Transformation. Background: . DMHMRSAS has allocated funds for Community Service Boards (CSBs) in previous years from the mental health state general funds to provide a joint Program of Assertive Community Treatment to meet the needs of adults in Chesapeake and Portsmouth with serious mental illnesses and intensive services needs. PACT will help stabilize them and integrate them into the community, and reduce their need for hospitalization. Discussion: . PACT funds are state general funds that are used to serve approximately 80 to 100 individuals in our community and result in a reduction of state mental health facility beds utilized by HPRV CSBs. . Financial Impact: There is no financial impact on the City. Staff Recommends: Adoption of proposed ordinance. Vision Principle: Neighborhood and Community Transformation. If the requested appropriation is approved, the Director of Behavioral Healthcare Services will ensure the proper dispersal of funds for physician costs to support the PACT program.
