October 11_ ~993 At a Called Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, October 11, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, *Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, **Bernard D. Griffin,.Sr., ***James C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 93-380 The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, October 11, 1993, for the purpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 93-382- The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Stormwater Drainage 2. Community Policy and Management Team Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. King, to go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) (1); (2) Discussion or consideration of the use of publicly held real property in the downtown, Churchland and central portions of the City and in Suffolk, and the acquisition for public use of property in the southern and southeastern portions of the City as permitted under Subsection (A) (3); !3) Consultation with legal counsel and briefings by staff pertaining to actual litigation with a former police officer, as permitted under Subsection (A)(7). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion of Mr. King, and seconded by Mr, Epperson pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council.
