<br /> "A RESOLUTION APPROVING AMENDMENT NO. 24 TO THE CRAWFORD
<br />CONSERVATION AND REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE CRAWFORD URBAN
<br />RENEWAL PROJECT.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council by resolution adopted August 1,
<br />1967, approved a ConServation and Redevelopment Plan for the
<br />Crawford Urban Renewal Project, Portsmouth, Virginia (Plan);
<br />and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, there has been presented to this body for
<br />consideration and approval, a copy of an amended Plan for the
<br />project area, which Plan consists of 19 pages and 4 exhibits
<br />(Amendment No. 24); and '-
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Amendment No. 24 proposes to designate additional
<br />properties as "To Be Acquired"; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council is cognizant of the conditions that
<br />are imposed by the provisions of the Housing and Community
<br />Development Act of 1974, as amended, including those
<br />prohibiting discrimination because of race, age, color,
<br />religion, familial status, handicap, sex or national origin;
<br />and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, in the judgment of this Council, it Ks in the
<br />interest of the City and its inhabitants that the said
<br />Amendment be approved.
<br />
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
<br />of Portsmouth, Virginia:
<br />
<br />1. That regarding Amendment No. 24, it is hereby found:
<br />
<br /> (a) That the objectives of the Crawford Urban Renewal
<br />Project, Portsmouth, Virginia, can be better achieved by the
<br />adoption of said Amendment to the Plan.
<br />
<br /> (b) That Amendment No. 24 meets the requirements of a plan
<br />for an urban renewal project pursuant to Chapter I of Title 36
<br />of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended.
<br />
<br /> 2. That Amendment No. 24, having been duly reviewed and
<br />considered, is hereby approved and adopted and the City Clerk
<br />is hereby directed to file a copy of said Amendment with the
<br />minutes of this meeting."

<br /> C. Ordinance to appropriate $2,569,000 from the Community
<br />Development Fund for the 1994 Community Development Program.
<br />
<br /> Motion by Mr. King, and seconded by Mr. Clemons, to adopt
<br />the following ordinance and was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> "AN ORDINANCE TO APPROPRIATE $2,569,000.00 FROM THE
<br />COM/6UNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND FOR THE 1994 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
<br />PROGRAM."

<br />93-419 - Letter from the City Manager recommending adoption of
<br />a resolution authorizing the City of Portsmouth's 1994
<br />Legislative Proposals to be presented to the Portsmouth
<br />Delegation for action in the 1994 General Assembly session.
