October 26, 1993 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, October 26, 1993, there were present: Mayor Gloria O. Webb, Vice Mayor Lee E. King, Johnny M. Clemons, John H. Epperson, *Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., james C. Hawks, Cameron C. Pitts, V. Wayne Orton, City Manager, Stuart E. Katz, City Attorney. 93-406 - The following call for the meeting was read: ,.Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, 801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 26, 1993, for thepurpose of a Public Work Session. In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an Executive Session. By order of the Mayor." 93-408 - The following items were discussed in the Public Work Session: 1. Economic Relations with South Africa 2. Water Level/Reservoirs 3. 1994 Legislative Proposals 4. EPA Conference Call 5. Virginia Symphony Request Motion by Mr. Epperson, and seconded by Mr. into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of of the Code of Virginia for the following: Clemons, to go Section 2.1-344 (1) Consideration of appointments to Boards and Commissions by the City Council as permitted under Subsection (A) {1); (2) Consultation with the City Attorney and briefing by staff pertaining to a matter of probable litigation regarding the ABEX matter as permitted under Subsection (A) (7); (3) Discussion or consideration of the acquisition of real property for public use in the southern portion of the city as permitted under Subsection (A) (3). The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion of Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Epperson, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council member's knOWledge during the i~=L~ediately preceding Executive Session of the City Council: (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and (2) Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Executive Session was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City Council. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. On motion meeting adjourned. City Clerk *Bernard D. Griffin, Sr. arrived at 5:36.
