January 23, 2001 <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· Funds have been appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2001 budget and will need to be <br />included in budgets for subsequent years. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following <br />resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A LEASE <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE RUNNYMEADE CORPORATION FOR PROPERTY <br />LOCATED AT 1725 GREEN STREET. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the <br />City Manager be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into a lease with the <br />Runnymeade Corporation for property located at 1725 Green Street, by which <br />agreement the City of Portsmouth will lease said property for a period of ten years, <br />subject to appropriation of Council." <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />01 - 40 - Adoption of a motion to transfer $55,764 from the Grants Contingency Account <br />for funding of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Building Grant for FY 2000-01. <br /> <br />This grant gives public libraries non-competitive monies for computer equipment, <br />software, training and maintenance for the benefit of the community and staff of <br />the library. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />· Adoption of a motion to transfer $55,764 from the Grants Contingency Account for <br />funding of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Building Grant. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· The grant gives public Libraries non-competitive monies for computer equipment, <br />software, training and maintenance for the benefit of the community and staff of the <br />library. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The City was awarded more funds than requested (Award Letter attached). <br /> <br />· There is no local match required. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Robinett, to transfer $55,764 from <br />the Grants Contingency Account for funding of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation <br />Building Grant for FY 2000-01, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes: Benn, Griffin, Moody, Pitts, Robinett, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />- New Business - <br /> <br />01 - 41 - Mr. Griffin offered the following nominations for the following Boards and <br />Commissions: <br /> <br />HAMPTON ROADS REGIONAL JAIL AUTHORITY <br /> <br />Daniel M.
