None <br /> <br />Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 17-26 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO HOUSING CODE VIOLATIONS AND PROCEDURES FOR <br />ABATEMENT OF NUISANCES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />06 - 50 - Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $93,859.00 in Technology Trust Fund <br />monies from the Compensation Board for use by the Clerk of Circuit Court in providing <br />technology updates for the office. No City cash match is required. Vision Principle: <br />Neighborhood and Community Transformation. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. The Clerk of Circuit Court assess a fee of $5.00 upon all civil actions, upon each <br />instrument to be recorded in the deed books, and upon each judgment to be docketed <br />in the judgment lien docket book. These funds are to be utilized for implementing <br />automation plans to modernize land records and provide secure remote access to land <br />records. Updating office automation and information technology equipment including <br />software and conversion services; preserving, maintaining and enhancing court records <br />including the cost of repairs, maintenance, service contracts and system upgrades may <br />be funded from this source. <br />. The total available funds from the Compensation Board for FY 2006 are <br />$96,846.25. <br />. The Clerk of Circuit Court has requested $93,859.00 to be disbursed to the City <br />of Portsmouth for purchasing services and equipment to update the office. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. This action will provide funding to pay the maintenance fees for the Records <br />Indexing System, Records Management System and Secure Remote Access. It will <br />also provide funding to purchase new microfilm readers, additional public view stations, <br />and update computer hardware and software. <br />.
