None Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 17 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA (1988) BY AMENDING SECTION 17-26 THEREOF, PERTAINING TO HOUSING CODE VIOLATIONS AND PROCEDURES FOR ABATEMENT OF NUISANCES." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 06 - 50 - Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $93,859.00 in Technology Trust Fund monies from the Compensation Board for use by the Clerk of Circuit Court in providing technology updates for the office. The Clerk of Circuit Court assess a fee of $5.00 upon all civil actions, upon each instrument to be recorded in the deed books, and upon each judgment to be docketed in the judgment lien docket book. These funds are to be utilized for implementing automation plans to modernize land records and provide secure remote access to land records. Updating office automation and information technology equipment including software and conversion services; preserving, maintaining and enhancing court records including the cost of repairs, maintenance, service contracts and system upgrades may be funded from this source. . The total available funds from the Compensation Board for FY 2006 are $96,846.25. . The Clerk of Circuit Court has requested $93,859.00 to be disbursed to the City of Portsmouth for purchasing services and equipment to update the office. Discussion: . This action will provide funding to pay the maintenance fees for the Records Indexing System, Records Management System and Secure Remote Access. It will also provide funding to purchase new microfilm readers, additional public view stations, and update computer hardware and software. . Financial Impact: No City cash match is required.
