<br />November 22. 2005 <br /> <br />- City Manager's Report - <br /> <br />05 - 529 - Adoption of an ordinance to accept the grant award $69,013 from HUD and to <br />appropriate this same amount to the Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services to <br />administer its Supportive Housing Program from May 1, 2005 through April 30, 2006. <br />The current award is a one-year grant to fund the program from May 1, 2005 through <br />April 30, 2006. This grant requires a 25 percent cash match of $17,095, which will be <br />paid using revenue generated by the case managers through Medicaid billings. Vision <br />Principle: Neighborhood and Community Transformation. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. DBHS applied for and was previously awarded a three year grant from HUD for <br />the Supportive Housing Program from May 1,2002 through April 30,2005. The current <br />award is a one year grant to fund the program from May 1, 2005 through April 30, 2006. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. DBHS applied for the original grant and the current renewal to fund two case <br />management positions to provide support services to Shelter Plus Care consumers. <br />. Financial Impact: The grant requires a 25% cash match ($17,095.00). DBHS <br />pays the cash match through revenue generated by the case managers through <br />Medicaid billings. There is no financial impact to the City. <br /> <br />Staff Recommends: <br />Adoption of an ordinance to accept $69,013 from the McKinney-Vento Homeless <br />Assistance Competition HUD grant and to appropriate this same amount to the <br />Department of Behavioral Healthcare Services to administer its Supportive Housing <br />Program from May 1, 2005 through April 30, 2006. The current award is a one-year <br />grant to fund the program from May 1, 2005 through April 30, 2006. This grant requires <br />a 25 percent cash match of $17,095, which will be paid using revenue generated by the <br />case managers through Medicaid billings. If the requested appropriation is approved, the Director of BHS will ensure the <br />Supportive Housing Program continues to provide the program to the consumers it <br />serves. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN <br />DEVELOPMENT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $69,013 AND APPROPRIATING SAID <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2005-2006 BEHAVIORAL HEAL THCARE SERVICES FUND <br />OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE SUPPORTIVE HOUSING PROGRAM." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />05 - 530 - Adoption of an ordinance to accept $46,788 from the Shelter Plus Care HUD <br />grant and to appropriate this same amount to the Department of Behavioral Healthcare <br />Services to administer its Shelter Plus Care Program.
