February 13, 2001 " 359 At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, February 13, 2001, there were present: MayOr James W. Holley ~11, Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, P. Ward Robinett, Jr., William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., City Manager Daniel M~ Stuck, City Attorney Timothy Oksman. 01 - 45, The following call for the meeting was read: "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Manager's Conference Room, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2001 for the purpose of a Public Work Session. in addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting. By order of the Mayor." 01 - 46 - The following items were discussed in Public Work Session: 1. Shea Terrace Elementary School 2. Property Exchange - VDOT/City of Portsmouth 01 - 47 - Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. RObinett, to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to provisions of Section 2.1-344(A) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss or consider the following: First, the acquisition or sale of real property for a public purpose, as authorized by paragraph 3, with the subject properties being considered for acquisition by the Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority. second, performance of employees, as authorized by paragraph 1; and third, appointments by City Council to boards and commissions, as authoriTed by paragraph 1. The motion was adopted by unanimous vote. Motion by Mr. Pitts, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1(D) of t~he Code of Virginia, certifying that to the best of the Council Member's knowledge during the immediately preceding Closed Meeting of the City Council: 1. Only public business matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, and 2. Only such public business matters as were identified in the motion by which the Closed Meeting was convened, were heard, discussed or considered in the meeting by the City COuncil.
