Financial Impact: There is no local match required. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br />Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $33,320 from the Business Consortium for the <br />Arts to Portsmouth Museums for exhibits and programming at the Courthouse Galleries. <br />Vision Principle: Neighborhood and Community Transformation. <br /> <br />Next Steps Following Council Action: <br />. The responsibility for the design, fabrication and installation of exhibits at the <br />Courthouse Galleries will rest with the Curator of Art and the exhibit staff. <br />. The Museums Director will keep the Museum of Fine Arts Commission and the <br />Office of the City Manager updated on the status of the exhibits. <br />. The City Council liaison will provide information to the City Council as <br />appropriate. <br /> <br />Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $198,050 FROM <br />THE BUSINESS CONSORTIUM FOR THE ARTS AND APPROPRIATING THE SAME <br />AMOUNT IN THE FY 2005-2006 GRANTS FUND OPERATING BUDGET FOR <br />EXHIBITS, PROGRAMS, AND ASSOCIATED EXPENSES FOR THE COURTHOUSE <br />GALLERI ES." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />05 - 266 - Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $3,075 from the Institute of <br />Museum and Library Services to Portsmouth Museums for a collection assessment for <br />the Naval Shipyard Museum. Vision Principle: Neighborhood and Community <br />Transformation. <br /> <br />Background: <br />. This grant will focus on a review of collections use, planning and policies within the <br />context of the museums total operation. <br />. A goal of the Department of Museums is to become accredited by the American <br />Association of Museums. This assessment will help the City strengthen its professional <br />practices in the area of museum collections management. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />. Financial Impact: $2,325 in Federal support has been awarded. A $750 local cash <br />match will be provided by the Museum's membership fund. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br />Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $3,075 from the Institute of Museum and <br />Library Services to Portsmouth Museums for a collection assessment for the Naval <br />Shipyard Museum.
