Recommended Action: Adoption of an ordinance to appropriate $33,320 from the Business Consortium for the Arts to Portsmouth Museums for exhibits and programming at the Courthouse Galleries. The responsibility for the design, fabrication and installation of exhibits at the Courthouse Galleries will rest with the Curator of Art and the exhibit staff. . The Museums Director will keep the Museum of Fine Arts Commission and the Office of the City Manager updated on the status of the exhibits. . The City Council liaison will provide information to the City Council as appropriate. Motion by Ms. Psi mas, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $198,050 FROM THE BUSINESS CONSORTIUM FOR THE ARTS AND APPROPRIATING THE SAME AMOUNT IN THE FY 2005-2006 GRANTS FUND OPERATING BUDGET FOR EXHIBITS, PROGRAMS, AND ASSOCIATED EXPENSES FOR THE COURTHOUSE GALLERI ES." This grant will focus on a review of collections use, planning and policies within the context of the museums total operation. . A goal of the Department of Museums is to become accredited by the American Association of Museums. This assessment will help the City strengthen its professional practices in the area of museum collections management. Discussion: . Financial Impact: $2,325 in Federal support has been awarded. A $750 local cash match will be provided by the Museum's membership fund.
