January 25. 2005 Motion by Ms. Randall, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: "ORDINANCE ACCEPTING $1,000 IN FUNDS FROM THE WALMART-SAM'S CLUB SAFE NEIGHBOR AWARD PROGRAM AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM IN THE GRANTS FUND FOR USE BY THE PORTSMOUTH DEPARTMENT OF FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES." Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None 05 - 40 - Adoption of a resolution requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) modify the inventory of lane miles of City streets in Portsmouth to account for additions, deletions, and name changes for the purpose of receiving State funds. Recommended Action: . Approval of a resolution requesting that the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) modify the inventory of lane miles of City streets in Portsmouth to account for additions, deletions, and name changes for the purpose of receiving State funds. Summary: . State maintenance funds for streets and highways are disbursed annually to localities and are based on an inventory of the City's streets on file with VDOT. Purpose and Need: . The purpose of the requested resolution is to make the necessary adjustments to the City's street inventory with VDOT. . This inventory is updated annually and requires City Council action. Financial Impact: . These changes will result in net annual increased revenue of $85.18. Motion by Mr. Whitehurst, and seconded by Mr. Moody, to adopt the following resolution, and was adopted by the following vote: "A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO APPROVE CERTAIN ADDITIONS, DELETIONS AND CHANGES IN FUNCTIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF STREETS IN THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH FOR THE PURPOSE OF CALCULATING STATE MAINTENANCE PAYMENTS. WHEREAS, the regulations of the Virginia Department of Transportation adopted pursuant to Section 33.1-41.1 of the Code of Virginia, 1950, require that the City submit a request for mileage additions, deletions, and changes in functional classification of streets which have occurred during the fiscal year for the purpose of calculating State maintenance payments; and WHEREAS, the changes in mileage described in Exhibit A, attached hereto and made a part hereof, have occurred in the City of Portsmouth. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that the Virginia Department of Transportation be requested to approve the additions and deletions more particularly described on the aforementioned Exhibit A" Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psi mas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley Nays: None
