December 14, 2004 Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Ms. Randall, to close the nominations, and the above nomination was adopted by unanimous vote. Thomas T. Moody to be appointed for a four year term beginning April 1, 2005, and ending December 31, 2008, replacing William H. Hargrove. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the nominations, and the above nomination was adopted by a vote of 5-2. (Holley, Psimas) ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY/PPIC James A. Overton to be reappointed for a four year term ending December 31, 2008. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the nominations, and the above nomination was adopted by unanimous vote. Nathaniel Williams to be reappointed for a four year term ending December 31, 2008. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the nominations, and the above nomination was adopted by unanimous vote. AMERICAN WITH DISABILITIES COMMISSION Sherry J. Warren to be reappointed for a three year term ending December 31, 2007. Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the nominations, and the above nomination was adopted by unanimous vote. CRANEY ISLAND STUDY COMMISSION Vice Mayor William E. Moody, Jr. to be appointed for a three year term. Motion by Mr. Holley, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to close the nominations, and the above nomination was adopted by vote of 6-0-1. (Moody) 04 - 485 - Items Submitted by Council Members ~ Motion by Mr. Heretick, and seconded by Mr. Moody, that the City Manger be authorized to identify and reprogram funds from the Fiscal Year 2005 Operating Budget for the purpose of providing Sheriff personnel with a 3% salary adjustment to address pay disparity with neighboring jurisdictions, and was adopted by unanimous vote. Councilman Smith spoke on continuing efforts of Council liaisons meeting with the School Board liaisons and their progress. Councilwoman Psimas spoke on Winter Wonderland and the wonderful season at High and Court Streets. Also, she thanked Valora Baskerville for an outstanding job with the Holiday Music Festival. Councilwoman Randall spoke on Christmas decorations in Mount Hermon Village. Councilman Smith recognized the attendance of Sherri Bailey, a School Board member and Herbert Mott, a former School Board member. Vice Mayor Moody announced the first Community Meeting at Brighton Elementary School, at7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2005. 04 - 486 - Report on Pending Items There were no pending items. 04 - 487 - Non-Agenda Speakers 1. Kathleen Carlson, 116 Chowan Drive, spoke in support of Safety Town, Scout program and offered silk flowers for sale for Safety Town.
