November 23, 2004 <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The additional funds will go towards the City's paving and curb and gutter restoration <br />program, and with these additional funds, the total paving and curb and guttering <br />restoration budget is increased from $1,597,711 to $1,933,643. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Whitehurst, to adopt the following <br />ordinance, and was adopted by the following vote: <br /> <br />"ORDINANCE ACCEPTING $335,932 IN COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FUNDS AND APPROPRIATING SAID SUM <br />IN THE GENERAL FUND FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF ROADS, CURBS, AND <br />GUTTERS IN THE CITY." <br /> <br />Ayes: Heretick, Moody, Psimas, Randall, Smith, Whitehurst, Holley <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />04 - 453 - Adoption of an ordinance to amend the FY 2004-05 Operating Budget by <br />appropriating $48,000 of additional revenue from the State Compensation Board for the <br />Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney for the purpose of salary supplements to certain <br />employees. <br /> <br />The additional revenue is generated from the restoration of funds previously <br />reduced by the FY 2003 Compensation Board budget cuts. The supplements will <br />assist the City in retaining experienced prosecutors. <br /> <br />Recommended Action: <br /> <br />· Adoption of an ordinance to amend the FY 2004-05 Operating Budget by <br />appropriating $48,000 of additional revenue from the State to the Office of the <br />Commonwealth's Attorney for the purpose of salary supplements to experienced <br />prosecutors on staff. <br /> <br />Summary: <br /> <br />· The additional revenue is primarily being generated from the restoration of funds <br />previously reduced by the FY 2003 Compensation Board budget cuts. <br /> <br />Purpose and Need: <br /> <br />· These additional funds will allow the Commonwealth's Attorney to provide attorneys <br />on staff with additional annual compensation. <br /> <br />· This action will provide for salaries that are more in line with other similar positions in <br />the region, thereby increasing the retention of experienced prosecutors in this Office. <br /> <br />· Positions that will receive the additional salary supplements include Assistant <br />Commonwealth Attorneys I, II, and III and a prosecutor in charge of the Exile program. <br /> <br />Financial Impact: <br /> <br />· The majority of the funds will come from the Commonwealth of Virginia. <br />Approximately, $4,000 has been identified within the operating budget of the Office of <br />the Commonwealth's Attorney. <br /> <br /> <br />
