McDaniel. <br /> <br /> BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS <br /> <br /> Bobby Buxton to be reappointed for a four year term ending August 31,2008. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Moody, and seconded by Mr. Heretick, to close the nomination~ <br /> and the above nominations were adopted by unanimous vote. <br /> <br /> 04 - 317 - Items Submitted by Council Members <br /> <br /> ~ Councilman Whitehurst made an inquiry to the Interim City Manager as to when the <br /> Parking Authority meets and requested a report on the financial situation of the <br /> Parking Authority. <br /> <br /> ~ Vice Mayor Moody announced that the next Community Meeting will held at 7:00 <br /> p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2004, at Woodrow Wilson High School. <br /> <br /> 04 - 318 - Report on Pending Items <br /> <br /> · Report on Special Events <br /> <br /> ~, Dr. Patton presented an update on the Events Planning and Management <br /> Committee. Also, she gave an overview of the Request for Proposal Process. <br /> <br /> 04 - 319 - Non-Agenda Speakers <br /> <br /> 1. Helen Person, 600 Rutter Street, Apt B, spoke on a letter received from the City <br /> Manager's Office pertaining to benches on High Street. Also, she read a letter <br /> received from Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority giving an update <br /> on requests with regard to Westbury. <br /> <br /> 2. Janice Bullin, 3708 Swan Court, spoke on a notice of violation she received and lack <br /> of accessibility to City Hall for the elderly. <br /> <br /> 3. John Coates, 4617 Mallard Crescent, spoke on tax abatement for senior citizens an¢ <br /> what he believes is the lack of sensitivity toward the elderly by the City. <br /> <br /> 4. Steve Whitehead, 4419 County Street, spoke on the blowing of grass by a property <br /> owner into streets and onto vehicles, and the lack of code enforcement by the City in <br /> this regard. <br /> <br /> 5. Mark Geduldig-Yatrofsky, 363 Middle Street, spoke on the possibility of televising <br /> Public Work Sessions. <br /> <br /> 6. William E. Copeland, 2107 Staunton Avenue, spoke on concerns in Prentis Park. <br /> 7. Raleigh Harsley, 2124 Peach Street, spoke on various issues in Prentis Park. <br /> <br /> 8. Kathleen Carlson, 116 Chowan Drive, spoke on citizens taking part in the Citizens <br /> Police Academy, the need for volunteers at Safety Town, and presented suggestion,, <br /> for factual displays at Safety Town. <br /> <br /> <br />
