<br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, June 1, 2004, there were
<br />present:

<br />Vice Mayor Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., Cameron C. Pitts, *J. Thomas Benn III,
<br />William E. Moody, Jr., Charles B. Whitehurst, Sr., Marlene W. Randall,
<br />City Manager C. W. McCoy, City Attorney G. Timothy Oksman.

<br /> Councilwoman Marlene W. Randall opened the meeting with prayer, which was
<br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
<br />
<br /> Vice Mayor Griffin called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance.
<br />04 - 207 - The following call for the meeting was read:

<br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council
<br />Chamber, 801 Crawford Street, 6th floor, 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2004 for the
<br />purpose of a public hearing on the proposed Annual Operating Budget and Capital
<br />Improvement Plan (CIP).
<br />
<br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into a Closed Meeting.
<br />

<br />2. Ray Strople, P. O. Box 1138, spoke in support of the Portsmouth Aerial Research
<br /> Coalition (PARC) funding.
<br />
<br />3. Mark R. DiVenuti, 218 Mount Vernon Avenue, spoke in support of funding for
<br /> schools.
<br />
<br />4. Jack Tynch, 2808 Acres Road, spoke in support of funding for schools.
<br />
<br />5. Nancy Alberts, 429 High Street, spoke in support of funding for Ports Events.
<br />
<br />6. Barrett Richardson, 1020 High Street, spoke in support of funding for Portsmouth
<br /> Volunteers for the Homeless.
<br />
<br />7. Dr. David Stuckwich, 801 Crawford Street, spoke in support of funding for schools.
